People have been expressing interest in donating to help replace some of the roses at The Allentown Rose Garden.

For many years, people in the Lehigh Valley community have enjoyed visiting the Rose Gardens.  Many wedding ceremonies have taken place there and it’s a wonderful place for photos.

Last August, Rose Garden maintenance workers discovered what they thought was Rose Rosette Disease otherwise known as RRD. On February 25th, the results did indeed test positive for it.

The City of Allentown Parks Department is working to remove and replace more than half of the Rose Garden due to that disease. The Allentown Rose Garden is located at Cedar Creek Parkway in Allentown, PA.

More than 700 roses are being removed and replaced with some 450 roses spaced out on 2-foot-to-4-foot centers based on variety according to a post on the facebook page of Friends of Allentown Parks.   The cost of replacing the roses is approximately $8000.00.

After hearing about the devastation to the roses in the Allentown Rose Garden, people have expressed interest in donating to replace the roses.
