Many of us love our pets.  They are very special members of our family.

Chief Mark A. DiLuzio of the Bethlehem Police Department would like to remind you that with the warmer weather to not leave your pet unattended inside your locked motor vehicle. In Pennsylvania under Title 18, Section 5511 entitled “Cruelty to Animals,” it is unlawful to do this and you will be arrested and prosecuted. Under this law, police have the right to “enter,” even break into your vehicle, to save the life of a pet.

Each year many pets die from heat exhaustion and or stroke even after just a few minutes of being locked in the owners car.   Please help to keep our pets safe this summer.
