Allentown, Pa

Starting on Wednesday, May 27th a project that had been previously started back in March will continue on 6th Street in Allentown according to a news release today.

6th Street will be closed from Whitehall Street to Sumner Avenue for a rain garden construction project.  The road will be closed until further notice.

About the rain garden construction project:

The project is to construct a Best Management Practice Stormwater Management Basin at the lawn island at the intersection of 6th Street and Sumner Avenue.

The project is funded by a $250,000.00 Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources grant.

The work will result in an environmentally friendly stormwater management and water quality basin that will control stormwater and increase stormwater quality.

The basin will include a subsurface infiltration bed as well as plantings that will enhance water quality.
