The Emmaus Arts Commission (EAC) in partnership with the Borough of Emmaus and the Emmaus Fire Department announced their newest public art project called the Emmaus Paint-A-Hydrant Program.

If you are an artist age 18 or older you can help beautify Emmaus by painting a town hydrant. You do not need to be a resident. However, if you are chosen, you are required to attend the live kick off art demo in which the chosen participants will begin to paint their assigned hydrant. The live kick off event will be held on Saturday, May 18th in Emmaus, PA.

“We want to see what your interpretation of what a hydrant can “be.” Perhaps your design would embellish a hydrant with a sense of place and local pride or maybe incorporates the history of our area? Perhaps it reflects the natural world, or make the hydrant stand out via abstract colors and shapes?”

The first ten hydrants to be painted are located in the central business district of Emmaus on Main Street and Chestnut Street.

Along with the completed form, applicants must include a drawing and description of their proposed design. Applicants are also asked to provide samples of their original artwork and an artist bio.
