Tonight’s full moon is called a Harvest Moon sometimes called a “corn moon”.

A harvest moon is a full moon that usually occurs around the autumnal equinox which is September 23rd, the first day of fall.  It is also called a Harvest moon because it extended harvest time for farmers.

The last time there was a full moon on Friday the 13th was in January of 2006.  The next one won’t occur for another 30 years in August of 2049.
