Allentown will be re-opening some park amenities starting this Friday, June 5th according to a news release today from the City of Allentown.
Starting Friday, Allentown Department of Parks and Recreation will re-open the Allentown Dog Park, Keck Skate Park as well as tennis and handball courts.
Playgrounds, pavilions, basketball and volleyball courts as well as sports fields remain closed.
In anticipation of Governor Wolf’s lifting of the stay-at-home order and pronouncement of Lehigh County’s movement to “yellow” status, the following amenities will re-open effective June 5:
Allentown Dog Park at Dixon Street – current members only
Keck Skate Park
Andre Reed Park
Percy Ruhe Park
The Department of Parks and Recreation will continue to monitor local, state and federal guidance regarding further opening of park amenities and recreation activities.
The public is reminded to follow COVID-19 CDC guidelines which are posted throughout Allentown’s park system.
In addition, please follow the basic guidelines:
Please walk on the grass, smell the flowers, hug the trees, talk to the birds,
and sit on the benches… and remember to:
- Leash and clean up after your pets
- Leave your alcohol at home
- Park in designated areas
- Build fires in city-provided grill boxes
- Obtain a park permit for groups of 25 or more
- Vacate all parks and playgrounds at dusk
