K-9 hero Jynx who had been retired in June of 2011 from the Berks County Sheriffs Office lost his life to an aggressive cancer over the weekend. He had been diagnosed in late June of last year and was not expected to make it until Christmas according to the facebook post by Eric J. Weaknecht, Sheriff of Berks County.
K-9 Jynx was duel trained in explosives detection and aggression and was retired after his handler, Berks County Deputy Sheriff Kyle Pagerly was killed in the line of duty serving an arrest warrant in Albany Township, Berks County, as part of the US Marshals Fugitive Taskforce. K-9 Jynx was also a winner in the “Hero Dog Awards,” which was televised on the Hallmark Channel according to an article in the Morning Call.
Members of the Berks County Sheriff K-9 Division and Reading Police K-9 handlers paid their respects to their Hero, K-9 Jynx.
K-9 Jynx leaves behind many that loved him including Alecia, Savannah, and the entire family. Sheriff, Eric J. Weaknecht asks that you please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
