REAL ID will take effect one year from today in Pennsylvania.
Starting on October 1, 2020 Pennsylvanians will need a REAL ID- compliant driver’s license, photo ID card or another form of federally-acceptable identification such as a passport or military ID in order to board domestic or commercial flights or enter into a federal building or military installation that requires an ID.
You do not have to get a REAL ID for any of the following:
  • Drive.
  • Vote.
  • Access hospitals.
  • Visit the post office.
  • Access federal courts.
  • Apply for or receive federal benefits, such as social security or veterans’ benefits.
