This Saturday and Sunday, September 28th and 29th is the 3rd Annual Fall Fest & Craft Fair Fundraiser  at Herbein’s Garden Center in Emmaus, PA.  It will benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank of the Lehigh Valley and Northeast PA.
About the Fall Fest and Craft Fair:
The Fall Fest and Craft Fair will have live entertainment by Bootleg Express on Saturday and DJ Jimbo on Sunday, a variety of food, activities, live presentations, pumpkin painting, leaf pressing, face painting, make and take pumpkin art, a scavenger hunt plus on Sunday an appearance by your favorite TOY characters, Woody & Jessie!  There will be lots of crafts/vendors as well as a straw maze the kids will be sure to love!
There will items on sale in the Garden Center all weekend.  Plus, during the month of September, Herbein’s is holding  a food drive and is accepting non-perishable food and hygiene items. For every item donated, you’ll receive a ticket for a chance to win a $50 Herbein’s Gift Card!   In addition, with a donation of $20  you can pre-register for our Pumpkin Painting Contest where prizes are awarded to all winners!
Some of the food you will find at the Fall Fest and Craft Fair will be hotdogs, apple cider, apple pie & ice cream, popcorn, peanuts, apples with hot caramel and roasted corn on the cob.

Seminar Schedule:

Sat. 11:00am – Sue Kittek, Author and Morning Call Garden Columnist, will lead a discussion all about ‘Indoor Plants’

Sat. 12:00pm – Randy Fey, Certified Arborist, will be speaking about ‘Everything You Need to Know About Trees’  During this presentation Randy will discuss insects & diseases of trees, proper pruning, how to identify defects in trees, how to identify species of trees and also City Ordinances for the Shade Tree Commissions.

Sat. 1:00pm – Lori Metz, Owner of Carriage House Landscape Design will discuss ‘Basic Shrub & Perennial Care’. Lori will teach us when to care for, deadhead and divide perennials and proper ptterflies’runing methods for landscape shrubs.

Sun. 1:00pm – Lori Metz, Owner of Carriage House Landscape Design will teach us in a humorous manner ‘How We Kill Our Plants’. Our landscape plants are very resilient but sometimes we are our their worst enemy. From mulch volcanoes to tree topping, this is a light-hearted & entertaining look at some of the common mistakes that ar e made in landscapes. Enjoy some laughs and learn what NOT to do in your own yard.

Sun. 2:00pm – Barbara Malt, Vice President of the Lehigh Valley Audubon Society will perform a demonstration on ‘Gardening for Birds & Butterflies’. Our local birds & butterflies need high-quality food and shelter to survive, reproduce and migrate. This talk will introduce you to their needs and how you can develop backyard habitat with native plants to help them flourish. Come enjoy beautiful pictures of many plants and animals!
