The Lehigh County Conservation District is holding informational programs on the Spotted Lanternfly. An hour long program is being held tonight as well as on April 2nd at 7:00 pm. They will be held at the Lower Macungie Township Building located at 3400 Brookside Road Macungie, PA.
The LCCD is holding these informational programs to teach our community how to prepare for the Spring hatch of the Spotted Lanternfly. The successful control of this invasive species takes a community effort.
At this meeting, you will learn the natural history of the Spotted Lanternfly as well as background behind its arrival here in Pennsylvania. You will also learn how to identify the four stages of the non-native invasive spotted lanternfly, identify the non-native host plant where it completes its life cycle and about the various methods to control the insect and its invasive host tree. You will also learn about their quarantine within our county and how to avoid the spread of the pest and its eggs.
A recording of one of the informational sessions will be shown on RCN Channel 66 every other week during April and May. There will also be a link on the LCCD web site for you to watch the recording.
