The City of Allentown is resuming the curbside collection of bulk items effective Wednesday, May 13.

Residents are allowed a maximum of:

  • one bulk item, OR
  • 40 lbs. of contained construction material,

once a week, only on the second trash night of their collection schedule.

This rescinds the directive that was issued the week of March 29 as a result of the COVID-19 Disaster Emergency, made between the city’s contracted hauler, Waste Management, and the administration in accordance with the terms of the contract.

For the health and safety of the trash collection employees:

  • All household trash must be in plastic bags and may not be placed loosely inside a trash can.  This safety measure will contain household waste in a manner that is safer for the collection employees.

Regular trash and recycling collections continue across the city.
