A large earthquake rattled Los Angeles area early this morning.
The quake struck the Malibu area around 7:28 a.m. with an initial magnitude of 5.1, officials said. It has since been downgraded to 4.7.
The temblor was about 7 miles below the surface, according to USGS, and the shock was felt as far away as 45 miles away in Orange County.
Data from the USGS indicates that the earthquake was felt in nearby areas such as Los Angeles, Hermosa Beach, Santa Monica, and the Hollywood Hills.
A second 2.8 earthquake, likely an aftershock, shook the same area two minutes later.

WGOLV also gets word out on missing pets, recalls, alerts, weather alerts, breaking news and much more. WGOLV is also a proud supporter of our First Responders, military, and Veterans as well as our local animal rescues.
WGOLV answers messages all times (even into the early morning hours) of day from those asking for help. We are always here to help the community for many years - it can be a missing person, a missing pet, a traffic accident, a fire etc. WGOLV has always been there to help people in our community for years.
