WGOLV.COM - LEHIGH CO., Pa. - A 50-year-old man from Bristol, Pennsylvania, was killed on Sunday when his motorcycle was struck by a wrong-way driver on the Northeast Extension of the Turnpike.

At approximately 9:09 am, Pennsylvania State Police were dispatched to I-476 Northbound, Mile Marker 67.0, Washington Township, Lehigh County, for the report of a motor

vehicle crash involving a group of motorcycles.

Upon arrival, it was determined that a 2019 Honda HRV, operated by a 24-year-old female from

Perth Amboy, NJ, was driving southbound, in the northbound lanes of travel, and struck two

motorcycles, from a group of six, that were driving together, causing a fatal crash, according to the report.

The 50-year-old man was operating a 2016 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, according to the report, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Lehigh County Coroner Daniel Buglio, the time of death was 10:10 am.

A 24-year-old male also from Bristol, Bucks County, was injured and treated at the scene by Northern Valley Emergency Medical Services (NOVA) and transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest for his injuries, according to state police.

The operator of the Honda had minor injuries, according to the report.

All traffic traveling northbound on the Turnpike was detoured onto the Lehigh Valley exit.

Traffic entering the Turnpike from State Route 22 was unable to access the Northbound lanes.

The scene was cleared by 1:20 pm, and all lane restrictions were lifted.

Southbound lanes of travel remained open throughout this investigation.

The name of the man is being withheld at this time to give the family proper time to grieve, according to Buglio, and an autopsy will be completed on Monday to determine the exact cause of death.
