A new Wawa opens in Bethlehem Township

BETHLEHEM TWP., PA - A 24-hour Wawa convenience store now occupies the site formerly used by Leiser's Rentals and Sales in Bethlehem Township. It had its grand opening on Thursday.

The new 6,300 square foot Wawa will house a built-to-order fresh food kitchen featuring Wawa’s signature hoagies and sandwiches, as well as new food innovations, such as a customizable burger.

The Bethlehem Township Police Department was invited to the grand opening event on Thursday.

Police and fellow First Responders from Bethlehem Township Volunteer Fire Co./EMS Ambulance Corps and Nancy Run Fire Co. all participated in Wawa’s “Hoagies for Heroes” program.

Police and Fire/EMS teams competed to see which team could build the most Wawa hoagies in 3 minutes.

Wawa offered to donate $1000.00 to each team’s charity of choice for participating.

BTPD requested their donation go to Because of a Dog, a local nonprofit dedicated to helping out with the care of stray and abandoned dogs.

The new Wawa is located at 3608 Nazareth Pike (Route 191), just north of the Oakland Road intersection in Bethlehem Township, and is the 10th Pennsylvania store to open since the start of the year.

Regionally, there are about two dozen Wawa locations and growing rapidly.

The region’s only drive-thru-only Wawa opened in February in Lower Macungie.

More Wawa store projects remain under construction or are being proposed.
