Allentown man dies after being hit on his bicycle in Northampton County Tuesday

FREEMANSBURG, Pa. A bicyclist died after being hit by a vehicle in Northampton County Tuesday afternoon, according to the coroner's office.


58-year-old, Dwain S. Englert, Sr. of Allentown, PA was involved in a bicycle accident on Pembroke Road in Freemansburg Borough. 



Mr. Englert was riding a bicycle along Pembroke Road at its intersection with Livingston Street when he was struck by a motor vehicle, according to the coroner's office.


He was not wearing a helmet at the time, the coroner's office said.


Englert was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital, Anderson Campus where he was pronounced deceased. 


The cause of death was determined to be multiple blunt force Injuries, and the manner of death was ruled an accident, according to the coroner's office.

 

No additional information is being released at this time.


The intersection was closed while crews investigated and subsequently reopened.
