ALLENTOWN, Pa.- The Allentown School District has canceled school on Monday, November 4, due to a planned political rally in Allentown.
Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris will host a “Get Out the Vote” rally in Allentown today - a day before the election, according to her campaign. She is expected to hold the rally in the afternoon.

According to the district, the rally is expected to draw large crowds, heavy traffic, and potential disruptions that may impact the safety and security of students and staff.

Pollsters say the Lehigh Valley is a key region in a key state to secure the Oval Office.
Both Vice President Harris and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump are scheduled to visit the Keystone State today. Trump is set to visit Reading.
Their visits are expected to tie up local traffic from 1 to 6 p.m. Monday, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
The district says it made the decision after thoughtful consideration, and in consultation with the Allentown Police Department.
The Administration Center and School Offices will remain open until 12 p.m. on Monday, with administrators and 12-month clerical staff reporting to their work assignments until that time.
In addition, all after-school activities and athletic events are canceled for today.
Classes will resume on Wednesday, November 6 at the regularly scheduled times, according to the announcement.

After thoughtful consideration, and in consultation with the Allentown Police Department, the Allentown School District is canceling school on Monday, November 4, 2024, due to a planned political rally in the City of Allentown. This event is expected to draw large crowds, heavy traffic, and potential disruptions that may impact the safety and security of our students and staff.
The Administration Center and School Offices will remain open until 12:00 p.m. on Monday, November 4, 2024. Administrators and 12-month clerical staff will report to their work assignments until 12:00 p.m.
It is important to note that all after-school activities and athletic events are canceled for Monday, November 4, 2024.
