Allentown School District to dismiss early as Democratic Vice-Presidential candidate Tim Walz visits city

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Democratic vice-presidential candidate Tim Walz is scheduled to be in Allentown today and Allentown School District says they will be dismissing early due to potential road closures and traffic around the schools.


Walz is scheduled to appear in Philadelphia, and then fly to the Lehigh Valley.


It's not clear where he will appear in Allentown before continuing north to Scranton Friday night.




The following was the announcement made by the School District:


Please be advised that the Allentown School District will have an early dismissal on Friday, October 25, 2024. We have consulted with local authorities and learned that potential road closures may affect our regular dismissal times and traffic around our schools.


 LCTI and LCCC students will dismiss at 10:45 a.m.

 Middle Schools, Allen High School, Dieruff High School at 11:30 a.m.

 Building 21 will dismiss at 11:45 a.m.

 There will be no afternoon LCTI

 Elementary Schools will dismiss at 12:30 p.m.


According to the announcement, the Administration Building and Main Offices will remain open. Any questions should be directed to the school's Main Office.
