READING, Pa - Alvernia University will begin hosting a two-day training program for those interested in attaining Part 107 drone certification from Aug. 10-11th.
The program, known as the Drone Operations Academy, is part of the university's partnership with DARTdrones's Professional Wings Program.
According to Alvernia's website, anyone is invited to attend regardless of experience with drone technology.
The Drone Operations Academy aims to teach those looking to use drones for business purposes. The course includes one day of hands-on flight training and 14 online micro-courses called the Real-World Flight Planning and Execution program.
Once training is complete, students must prepare for their FAA exam in order to obtain their drone license. The course provides a practice exam and all other materials necessary to complete the test. The exam should take at least 15 hours of preparation.
The Drone Operations Academy is part of Alvernia's AccelerateAU Program, which aims to provide non-credit certificate programs for professionals to use in their respective industries.
In an official statement, Gaetan T. Giannini, vice president for graduate and adult education at Alvernia, said, "We are thrilled to partner with DARTdrones to bring this cutting-edge program to the Reading and Greater Berks County community. The Drone Operations Academy aligns perfectly with our AccelerateAU offerings to offer flexible, up-skilling-based education tailored for today’s busy professionals."
The program is set to take place at the Alvernia PLEX building at 465 Saint Bernadine St. in Reading. It will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and is $1,250 per participant.
