Do you drive a BMW or know someone who does?
BMW is issuing a recall for over 720,000 vehicles due to a problem with the water pump's electrical connector that could potentially result in a fire.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced the recall affects certain X1, X3, and X5 models, among others.
According to the NHTSA report, the affected vehicles are equipped with water pumps that have inadequate sealing, making them prone to fluid ingress at the electrical plug connector over time.
As per the NHTSA report, the impacted vehicles feature water pumps with insufficient sealing.
They say there is the possibility that a short circuit could occur, and in rare cases, there’s a potential for a fire.
Water pumps and plug connectors will be inspected and replaced as necessary.

The report said that a shield will be also installed to divert any fluid that might drop down onto the pump from the positive crankcase ventilation system’s intake air house.
Vehicle owners are expected to receive a recall notification in October and will be instructed to take their cars to an authorized BMW center to have the appropriate remedies performed for free.
Last month, BMW recalled more than 390,000 vehicles in the US because they are equipped with airbag inflators that can explode.
