LEHIGH COUNTY – A body of a man was found deceased Monday night, according to authorities.
The Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) Troop M – Bethlehem Criminal Investigation Unit is investigating.
According to a press release Tuesday morning from Lehigh County Coroner, Daniel Buglio, the man is being identified as John Doe, age 41 of Walnutport, PA.
The man was pronounced deceased on Monday at approximately 11:30 p.m., according to the coroner, and was found at the scene in the water of an underground quarry, at the 300 block of East Church Street, Slatington, PA.
According to a press release, state police were provided information that a deceased male may be located in the area of Slate Heritage Trail in Slatington Borough, Lehigh County.
According to a Channel 69 News report, a police investigation was centered on the area of the D & L Trail in Slatington, Lehigh County Monday night.
During the investigation, Troopers and other first responders discovered a deceased male in a cave along the Slate Heritage Trail.
The Lehigh County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene and will perform an autopsy to
determine the cause of death on Thursday, January 2, 2025.
The coroner's office states, that while John Doe has been presumptively identified, his name will not be released until a positive identification is confirmed.
There is no threat to the community related to this incident, according to the press release.
The PSP Bethlehem Criminal Investigation Unit is the lead agency for this death investigation.

Walnutport Police Department, Slatington Borough Fire Department and the Walnutport Fire
