NORTHAMPTON TWP., Pa. - A burn ban is in effect for Northampton County, according to the county's website.
The burn ban went into effect Sunday, November 10, 2024 due to extremely dry conditions.
The burn ban is in effect for 30 days or until a further resolution is passed by the County Council, whichever comes first, according to the website.
During the burn ban, you cannot burn any combustible material outdoors.
The timeline of the burn ban runs right through the annual bonfire Easton School District puts on before Thanksgiving.
Channel 69 news says Easton is already trying to mitigate the issue by watering the bonfire field daily.
An exemption was left in place for the bonfire in Easton to go on as long as Palmer Township Fire and Police provided their written approval, according to the news station.
More information can be found on the county's website.
