Car crashes into old BonTon in Allentown, man sent to hospital

SALISBURY TWP., Pa - A car crashed into the old BonTon Department store, according to Lehigh County Dispatchers.


Dispatchers reported that the crash happened shortly after 11 am at 3300 Lehigh Street in Allentown.



An 80-year-old male was driving the car, according to dispatchers, and self-extricated from the vehicle.


According to firefighters on the scene, the car is a 4-door sedan.


The vehilce ended up about 75 feet into the building, according to firefighters on the scene.





The building is reported to have significant damage, according to the dispatchers.


They are also checking the structure of the building.


One unconfirmed report I received on the scene stated that the throttle may have been stuck on the car.
