City of Allentown advises residents and visitors to plan for significant traffic and parking impacts due to the Trump rally

ALLENTOWN, Pa - The City of Allentown is advising residents and visitors to plan for significant traffic and parking impacts due to the Trump rally scheduled at the PPL Center on Tuesday, October 29, in the late afternoon and evening.


 

The City is implementing the following measures to manage congestion and maintain public safety:


  • Street closures in the downtown (see maps below). Expect congestion and limited access in the area.


    • There will be a street closure in the downtown area: 7th Street from Linden to Walnut and Hamilton Street from 6th to 8th Street starting at 5:00 p.m. today.

    • As of 8:00 a.m. tomorrow, the street closure will be expanded to include 7th Street from Turner to Walnut Street, 8th Street from Turner to Walnut Street, Linden Street from 6th to 9th Street, and Hamilton Street from 6th to 9th Street.

    • Parking access will be provided to residents within the closure.

  • No parking will be available on Linden Street between American Parkway and 9th Street, with additional restrictions in surrounding areas of the PPL Center.

  • The Allentown Police Department (APD), in coordination with state and federal law enforcement partners, will increase its presence to ensure the safety and security of the public.

 

Large crowds and foot traffic are anticipated, along with a heightened media presence in the vicinity of the PPL Center.

 

The City encourages residents, businesses, and visitors to plan ahead if traveling through or near the affected areas on October 29.
