City of Allentown: Resources for this week's heat advisory

ALLENTOWN, Pa - Due to a heat advisory, all city pools will only be open to residents and season pass holders from 12-7 pm at no cost today, as capacity allows, according to the City of Allentown - Address verification is required.


The city will continue to monitor the weather for the remainder of the week, as stated in the city's Facebook announcement.

Stay hydrated and cool, especially for older adults and young children.


Hydration stations and shade areas will be available at each location.

🏊 Irving Pool 731 N Irving St

🏊 Mack Pool 1901 Mack Blvd


Season pass holders have priority access lines.


Spray Parks:

Open 11 am-8 pm daily, no cost.


💦 Bucky Boyle Park 10 Pump Pl

💦 Old Fairgrounds 5th St between Gordon & Liberty St

💦 Valania Park 531 Union St


Public A/C Buildings:

On 7/8 & 7/9, anyone, especially older adults, in need of air conditioning can visit these locations during the specified times.


🆒 Allentown Public Library 1210 Hamilton St 8 am-8 pm

🆒 Cumberland Gardens Community Room 501 E Cumberland St 3:30-7 pm (subject to change)

🆒 Executive Education 555 Union Blvd 8 am-1 pm (enter through main office)

🆒 Lehigh Valley Active Life 1633 Elm St 8:30 am-4:30 pm (please enter through the doors facing the parking lot)

🆒 PPL Center Lobby 701 Hamilton St (enter through the Main WFMZ Gate sliding doors) 10 am-5 pm


Water Curtains:

Available on Monday 7/8 and Tuesday 7/9 from 11-3 pm, operated by the Allentown Fire Department.

🚒 Roosevelt Park: 271 Camp St

🚒 Jordan Park: 1001 N 6th St

🚒 Union Terrace: Soccer fields across from UT Elementary




Extreme heat can be dangerous for everyone, especially young children and older adults.

Heat-related illnesses can cause significant injury and possibly death.


Stay hydrated, stay indoors with air-conditioning if possible, and check on relatives and neighbors to ensure they are staying cool.


Also, take extra care of pets during this heatwave.


If someone is overcome by heat, move them to a cool, shaded spot.


For heat strokes, heat-related, and other emergencies, please call 9-1-1.
