Body of missing York County hiker who went missing last week found

LOWER CHANCEFORD TOWNSHIP, Pa. - UPDATE: Pennsylvania State Police say a body found in York County on Monday afternoon is that of a hiker who went missing last week.


A Coroner has been called to the site where crews have been searching for a York County man, according to WGAL.


47-year-old Joshua Markey of Red Lion, has not been seen since around 8:45 a.m. Thursday, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Troopers said that's when he parked his vehicle off Furnace Road, just west of Indian Steps Road, in Lower Chanceford Township.


State police believe the avid hiker was walking the Mason-Dixon Trail within State Game Lands No. 83.
