DA: Woman sentenced up to 16 years in prison for the homicide of an Allentown child


Today District Attorney Jim Martin announced the sentencing in the homicide of an Allentown child.


Delilah Reader, 39, pleaded no contest to Murder of the Third Degree on August 15, 2023. Today she was sentenced to eight to 16 years in state prison,, according to the news release from the Lehigh County District Attorney's Office.


On Dec. 6, 2007 in Allentown, Reader was the sole caregiver of Angelina Tomas, who was 10 months old at the time, according to the news release. On that morning, Reader caused a traumatic brain injury to the victim, the DA's office says.


The brain injury caused significant developmental delays, cognitive and learning impairments, physical disabilities and a seizure disorder – the latter of which caused Tomas’ death in 2015, according to the news release.
