Dorney Park to host 100th-anniversary celebration of Thunderhawk roller coaster

Dorney Park will host the 100th-anniversary celebration of their Thunderhawk roller coaster today.

The Thunderhawk ride, originally named 'Coaster' was built in 1924, and dubbed as an out-and-back rollercoaster.

The ride consists of a slow climb to the lift after leaving the station, then races to the end of the track where it proceeds to perform a 180-degree turn. Over the years this coaster has been renamed and revamped into what the guests enjoy today.

“Thunderhawk is a national landmark and an integral part of our park’s history,” said Dorney Park Vice President and General Manager Jessica Naderman. “We are proud of the generations of men and women who have preserved this roller coaster over the years, and we’re excited to celebrate its centennial.

Additionally, the Thunderhawk ride will be decorated with commemorative decals and signage to mark its 100th anniversary.
