East Allen Township man killed after car strikes tree in Bethlehem Wednesday evening

BETHLEHEM, Pa - A 51-year-old man from East Allen township died as a result of a single-vehicle motor vehicle accident in Bethlehem Wednesday evening.

The driver, Johnny M. Roustic, was taken to St. Luke's University Hospital in Bethlehem in critical condition and pronounced deceased an hour later at 9:00 pm, according to Lehigh County Coroner Daniel Buglio.

Mr. Roustic was the operator of a motor vehicle that struck a tree.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:00 pm in the area of Pembroke Road and East Washington Street, Bethlehem, Northampton County, PA.

Arriving officers say they found a vehicle had gone into a tree near the intersection.

The cause of death is due to multiple blunt force Injuries due to a motor vehicle collision, according to the coroner.

A 29-year-old male passenger was also injured and taken to St. Luke’s University Hospital with suspected minor injuries.

Witnesses told police the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Pembroke Rd., appeared to lose control, and went off the roadway and into a tree.

Rain was reported at the time of the crash, and wet road conditions may have contributed to the accident, according to a news release.

In addition to the coroner's office, the Bethlehem City Police Department is also investigating.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Bethlehem Police at 610-865-7000 or BethlehemPolice@bethlehem-pa.gov.
