Emergency officials respond to possible Hazamat at daycare facility in North Whitehall Township

NORTH WHITEHALL TWP., PA.

Emergency officials responded to a daycare facility located at 3880 Park Avenue in North Whitehall Township at approximately 10:30 a.m. this morning for a possible hazmat incident. Multiple EMS units were dispatched..


Initial emergency dispatches called for a possible carbon monoxide incident with multiple patients. Pennsylvania State Police said some staff inside the building reported not feeling well.



The building was evacuated and the fire department and additional hazmat teams were called out to test the air inside, according to a report by WFMZ News.



5 adults and 8 children were transported as a precautionary measure, according to the news report. Pennsylvania State Police confirmed that the ages of the juveniles range from infants to toddlers, according to WFMZ.


Officials with the daycare center said the building has working CO detectors and they did not go off a the time people began feeling sick. Symptoms of headaches and dizziness were reported, according to officials.


So far, emergency officials have not determined the source of the incident.
