Fatal crash closes lanes of I 476 South through Montgomery County

SALFORD TWP., Pa. — A fatal crash closed multiple lanes of Interstate 476 South through Montgomery County Friday morning, according to a WFMZ News report


According to Pennsylvania State Police, the crash occurred when a "utility service type truck" carrying a driver and passenger pulled over at Mile Marker 36.4 to check on a possibly unsecure load.



According to police, the passenger exited the vehicle to check on the load, but was struck by a "semi truck/trailer" whose driver was distracted and drifted into the shoulder. The passenger was killed immediately at the scene.


According to the report, as of 9:40 a.m. this morning, the center and right lines of I-476 South were closed due to the crash.





Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the incident.
