SPRINGFIELD TWP., Pa. — One of the oldest homes in Bucks County is a total loss after a fire tore through it Tuesday afternoon.

The homeowner, Adam Weiss told WFMZ that thankfully none of his family members were at the home when the fire started, but the family did lose several pets.

According to the news report, the homeowner, says there were two cats and two turtles that did not make it out of this fire.

The Palisades Regional Fire Department led the response that began around 1:20 p.m.

Weiss told WFMZ that he was at work and got the call the front of his house was on fire.

He said when he got there, it was fully engulfed. He also told WFMZ that he tried to save anything he could.

"It was a log cabin from the 1700s. I was born and raised here he told WFMZ News, and we just built our whole family from here," Weiss said.

He does plan to rebuild on the site at some point in the future, according to the news report.

But for now, he's working with his insurance company and working on finding a new place to live, he said.

There is no word on what started the fire, according to WFMZ.
