Fire temporarily closes historic movie theatre in Emmaus

EMMAUS, Pa. - A fire has temporarily closed a historic movie theatre in Emmaus.

On Saturday, the Emmaus Fire Department was dispatched to the Emmaus Theatre located at 19 South Fourth Street at about 4:16 pm, according to Lehigh County dispatchers.

An incident occurred at their concession stand (small equipment fire), according to an announcement on their Facebook page and thankfully, they were able to evacuate everyone safely.

The announcement stated, "While the damage is minimal, we will be temporarily closed for at least a week as we manage cleanup and repairs. We appreciate your understanding and patience during this time".

ATTENTION: Important Update for Our Valued Patrons

We want to update you regarding an incident that occurred last night at our concessions stand. Thankfully, thanks to the quick actions of our amazing employees, Brianna Escamilla and Emily Ross, everyone was evacuated safely, and no one was harmed. They promptly contacted the fire department, who responded swiftly to handle the situation.

While the damage is minimal, we will be temporarily closed for at least a week as we manage cleanup and repairs. We appreciate your understanding and patience during this time.

To our show promoters, theater renters, and ticket holders, we will reach out to you as soon as possible with further information.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to Brianna and Emily for their bravery and swift response, as well as to the Emmaus Fire Department and police for their rapid action in preventing more serious damage to our beloved theater.

This is just a short intermission, and we look forward to welcoming you back soon!

Sincerely,

Robert Audibert & Butch Rossetti
