In an earlier facebook post, Lehigh County Emergency Management announced the passing of former Director of Lehigh County Emergency Management and Coordinator/Chief of Lehigh County Special Operations, John Kalynych.
John served in many roles during his time with Lehigh County.
Most recently, he was a part-time employee within the District Attorney’s office and their Municipal Emergency Response Team. John was also a retired Deputy Chief for Catasauqua Fire and current Safety officer for Lower Saucon Fire Rescue.
John dedicated his life to service to others and started his career as a Firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician in the late 1980’s.
He traveled around the region as a Fire/Rescue Instructor for Bucks County Community College and was a friend and mentor to hundreds of Emergency Responders across the state. He was also a proud father of two sons. who are also very involved in the emergency services.
John was also a wealth of knowledge in the leadership, rescue, and hazmat community,
