Have you been experiencing problems with Facebook, Instagram or WhatsApp today? You are not alone.
Meta has been experiencing a major global outage with thousands of users reporting Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp issues.
"We're aware that a technical issue is impacting some users' ability to access our apps. We're working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible and apologize for any inconvenience," Meta, which owns the apps, said on X.
Numerous issues have been reported, such as users being unable to use the apps entirely or experiencing feeds that do not refresh.
Problems were occurring in the UK, parts of Europe, the US, Asia, Australia, and South America.
The company's systems seem to have encountered a major technical problem.
More than 150,000 users reported outages across Meta’s WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram apps as of Wednesday afternoon, according to DownDetector.com.
According to the website that monitors service disruptions, over 96,000 Facebook users experienced difficulties accessing the app, with reports peaking shortly before 1 p.m.
According to DownDetector.com, more than 69,000 Instagram users reported similar issues accessing the photo app, and more than 12,000 users reported an outage across WhatsApp, Meta’s secure messaging app,
The reports came from users across the country. Many of the reports are coming from cities like New York, Boston, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, according to maps on the website.
Meta's platforms are some of the most popular in the world. Facebook has over three billion active monthly users.
The biggest outage Meta experienced was in 2021, when founder Mark Zuckerberg apologized for the disruption caused. At that time, Facebook, Messenger, Whatsapp and Instagram services went down for almost six hours.
