The National Weather Service expects temperatures to reach the upper 80s to around 90°F on Monday and then increase to the mid-90s by Tuesday.

Starting on Wednesday, there will be an excessive heat watch in place with the potential for very high temperatures and heat index values ranging from 100 to 105.

The heat is expected to worsen as the week progresses, peaking late in the week and into the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

These early season heat events, along with their prolonged duration, could lead to increased heat-related impacts such as heat illnesses and impacts on heat-sensitive infrastructure.

In response, the City of Allentown has issued a citywide heat advisory.

The City of Allentown announced that all city residents and season passholders will have free access to city pools from Tuesday to Friday.

Additionally, cooling stations will be available at Roosevelt Park, Jordan Park, and Fountain Park from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.
