LEHIGH TWP., Pa. - According to police, the hiker that first responders were searching for on the Appalachian Trail was found deceased.
Northampton County Communications says a call came in just after midnight from the State Police, asking for assistance from the Lehigh Township Fire Department to aid in the search for a missing hiker.
The hiker was located deceased in Northampton County near the Carbon County line, according to WFMZ News.
Several vehicles were brought in at the staging area including an ATV.
A Northampton County Emergency Management Command Center was then set up in the area of the Blue Mountain Ski Resort in Carbon County, according to WFMZ News.
Among those brought in were police, park rangers, and firefighters, according to the news article.
The Northampton County Coroner's Office has been called and is investigating, according to police.
