WOODBRIDGE, Nj — An infant was killed and the parents injured over the weekend in Woodbridge in an apparent dog attack, according to authorities.
On Saturday at 6:17 am, police received a 911 distress call from a home on Mereline Avenue in Avenel for an unresponsive baby believed to have been attacked by the family dog, according to Woodbridge Police Director Robert Hubner.
Middlesex County prosecutors and Woodbridge police said officers responded to the Woodbridge Township home shortly before 6:30 a.m.
Upon arrival, authorities said officers found that the mother and child “had sustained serious injuries from the dog.”
The baby was pronounced dead at the scene and the mother and father were taken to a hospital for treatment.

According to NJ.com, the child was a 3-month-old boy.
The names of the victims have not been publicized due to privacy concerns, and the parents have not been charged with a crime.
The dog — a pit bull — was put down, according to Patch.
