PALMER TWP., -PA - A large sinkhole formed Tuesday night on Main Street between Van Buren Road and PA 33. Work to fill the sinkhole began March 27.
Initially, all lanes were anticipated to open tomorrow, March 29, but inclement weather has extended the timeline, according to a news release from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
Crews continue to pour concrete into the sinkhole.
After the concrete is poured, they will place aggregate to make it level with the road in preparation for paving.
According to PennDOT, the current estimate is for all lanes to be open on Monday, April 1 or Tuesday, April 2.
Two weeks ago, crews filled a sinkhole at Main Street and Carson Court.
Back in 2021, the same stretch of road was closed for several months due to a sinkhole.
Motorists are advised to use caution when traveling through the area.
No additional details are available at this time.
