Lehigh County coroner releases official cause of death for shooting victim in Bethlehem

BETHLEHEM, Pa - The Lehigh County coroner released the official cause of death today for the Allentown man shot near Governor Wolf Elementary School in Bethlehem Thursday night.


30-year-old Altaron Amir Robinson was pronounced dead at St. Luke's University Hospital in Bethlehem on Friday afternoon following the shooting Thursday night.


The incident took place at approximately 9:29 pm on September 26, 2024, in the 1900 Block of Butztown Road in Bethlehem.

Robinson died of a gunshot wound to the head and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the coroner.

17-year-old Gianni Santini has been charged as an adult and it has been ruled a homicide.- The charges were upgraded after the victim passed away. Other charges against Santini include robbery and carrying a firearm without a license.


Police say it was a targeted incident.


A 911 caller said a man had been shot and that the suspect fled on foot.


Governor Wolf Elementary School was closed Friday while police investigated.


In addition to the coroner's office, the Bethlehem Police Department and the

Northampton County District Attorney's Office is investigating.
