HANOVER TOWNSHIP, Pa. - This July, Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) broke its record for the highest passenger traffic total for a single month, reaching over 100,000 passengers.
101,988 passengers used ABE last month, an 11.7% increase from July 2023.
"The heavier passenger volumes have been noticeable, as the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) reported nine of the top 10 busiest days ever in our Screening Checkpoint since 2002," said Thomas R. Stoudt, Executive Director of the Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority (LNAA). "The passenger count would have been even higher; however, multiple flight cancellations occurred from the CrowdStrike incident on July 19 that resulted in national and global ground stops being issued by Allegiant, American, Delta, and United."
Both American Airlines and Allegiant saw passengers increase by 18.4% and 18.2% respectively. Meanwhile, Delta and United's passengers decreased by 7.7% and 12.1% compared to last July.
Additionally, ABE processed 19,359,176 pounds of air cargo--a decrease from last July's 21,613,546 by 10.4%.

Concessions Overhaul Update
Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) joined Tailwind Hospitality, Inc. to celebrate the grand opening of The Drafthouse at ABE in July.
Providing a full menu of food and beverages, The Drafthouse replaces the PA Pub in the Wilfred M. “Wiley” Post, Jr. Concourse which opened in 2012. The Drafthouse operates from 5:00 a.m. (daily) until the last departure.
“Besides the new Drafthouse, our list of options will continue to grow in August with the arrival of Which Wich® – a national sandwich chain – and we’re excited to welcome Zekraft – a familiar establishment to Lehigh Valley residents – later this Fall,” said Stoudt.
