Update - As of 12:30 pm, Upper Macungie Township police reported that high-volume traffic remains in the area of Rt. 100 and I-78, Tilghman Street, and 222 throughout Breinigsville.
A multi-vehicle crash closed all lanes of I-78, both east and westbound, between Exit 49A: PA 100 S - Trexlertown and Exit 29: PA 61 S - Reading, according to WFMZ News.
The crash was reported just before 8:30 a.m.
State Police say the crash, which involved two tractor-trailers and an SUV, happened in a work zone cattle chute and the impact took out a concrete barrier.
Troopers say one person was seriously injured, according to a report by WFMZ News.
No word on what caused the crash.
The road is expected to be closed for some time for cleanup and investigation.
