NASCAR postpones Daytona 500 due to inclement weather

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. NASCAR has postponed Sunday's Daytona 500 until Monday at the Daytona International Speedway due to inclement weather.

The Daytona 500 now joins the NASCAR Xfinity Series race (11:00 a.m. ET) on Monday, creating the first-ever Monday doubleheader at Daytona International Speedway.

The Daytona 500 is set to start at 4:00 pm ET.

NASCAR made the call early Sunday, preventing fans from sitting in the rain awaiting a decision on whether the race would proceed.

The last time the Daytona 500 was postponed a full day was in 2012.

More than 140,000 spectators are scheduled to attend this year's 66th annual race.

Joey Logano won the pole position for the Daytona 500 by beating Michael McDowell in the qualifying race on Wednesday. Logano was the winner of the Daytona 500 back in 2015.

The original broadcast networks remain unchanged.

The NASCAR Xfinity Series race will broadcast on FS1, MRN and SiriusXM

NASCAR Radio. Parking lots will open at 7 a.m. ET, venue gates, hospitality, and the Hardrock Bet Fanzone will open at 10 a.m. ET.

Hard Rock Bet Fanzone ticketholders for either event will have track access for DAYTONA 500 pre-race ceremonies following the conclusion of the United Rentals 300 race, at approximately 2:45 pm.

The DAYTONA 500 will be live on FOX, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

United Rentals 300 tickets take priority for seating until the completion of the NASCAR Xfinity Series race.

Following the United Rentals 300 checkered flag, fans who do not have DAYTONA 500 tickets will need to sit in seats not occupied by DAYTONA 500 ticket holders.

*Schedule is subject to change
