National Weather Service warns of the potential for the spread of wildfires today for the Lehigh Valley

The combination of low relative humidity values between 25 and 35 percent, west/northwest winds gusting up to 25 mph, and dry fuels will increase the potential for the spread of wildfires today, according to the National Weather Service.

Areas included are the following:

Berks-Lehigh-Northampton-Delaware-Philadelphia-Western Chester- Eastern Chester-Western Montgomery-Eastern Montgomery-Upper Bucks- Lower Bucks- Including the cities of Reading, Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton, Media, Philadelphia, Honey Brook, Oxford, West Chester, Kennett Square, Collegeville, Pottstown, Norristown, Lansdale, Chalfont, Perkasie, Morrisville, and Doylestown

Residents are urged to exercise caution handling any potential ignition source...including machinery... cigarettes...and matches.

Be sure to properly discard all smoking materials.

Any dry grasses and tree litter that ignite will have the potential to spread quickly.
