Northampton County Coroner identifies 66-year-old man involved in fatal motorcycle accident

U. MOUNT BETHEL TWP., Pa. - A 66-year-old man died as a result of a motorcycle crash in Upper Mount Bethel Township on Thursday.


The Northampton County Coroner has identified the man as John S. Tompkins, of Upper Mount Bethel Township.


Tompkins was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Northampton County Coroner Zachary Lysek.



Tompkins died as a result of injuries from the crash and the manner of death was ruled an accident, according to Lysek.


Police determined that Tompkins was operating a 2003 Honda motorcycle and struck the guide rail.


The roadway was shut down as a result of the accident and later reopened.
