OceanGate is suspending all exploration and commercial operations after one of their submersibles took the lives of five people last month.

OceanGate was founded in 2009 and allowed tourists to experience expeditions to the Titanic, the Azores, the Bespoke, and the Bahamas. The expeditions focused on taking an up-close look at shipwrecks and underwater canyons.

According to OceanGate, they conducted over 14 expeditions and over 200 dives in the Pacific, Atlantic, and Gulf of Mexico.

On June 18th, OceanGate’s submersible, Titan, was reported missing with five passengers on board.

On June 22nd, the remains of the Titan were located around 1,600 feet from the bow of the Titanic.

"There is still a substantial amount of work to be done to understand the factors that led to the catastrophic loss of the TITAN and help ensure a similar tragedy does not occur again," –Captain Jason Neubauer of the Marine Board of Investigation.

The U.S. Coast Guard is reportedly helping with the investigation.

OceanGate’s CEO, Stockton Rush, was among the five victims rendering the future of the company uncertain.

Our thoughts and condolences to go the families of the victims of this Titan implosion.
