One firefighter lost his life and another was injured while driving to a fire in Chester County

WEST WHITELAND TWP., PA


In a Facebook post, the West Whiteland Fire Company announced that Firefighter Colin Reedy lost his life while he and Firefighter, Emily Gindele were responding to an alarm on Friday night (October 20, 2023) when their vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree during a heavy downpour.


Firefighter Reed succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Firefighter Gindele is under care at Paoli Memorial Hospital in critical but stable condition.


The Fire Company asked that you keep the families of both firefighters and their members in your thoughts and prayers at this time.


Funeral arrangements are to be determined at a later date.
