PA State Police and Allentown Police conduct joint speed enforcement detail to help increase roadway safety

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The City of Allentown Police Department and the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) Troop M – Bethlehem Station conducted a joint speed enforcement detail on Tuesday, Aug. 20 in collaboration with the Highway Safety Network.


Between 9 and 11 a.m., Troopers and Officers from the Traffic Safety Unit conducted a joint speed enforcement detail around American Parkway and Iron Pigs Way in Allentown to increase roadway safety and reduce motor vehicle crashes.


The results of the speed enforcement detail are as follows:


• 27 speeding citations issued

• Two seat belt citations issued

• One driving under the influence suspended citation issued

• Five other traffic citations issued


In a press release, both departments reminded motorists of Title 75 Section 3733, Fleeing or Attempting to Elude Police Officer.


According to the mandates, any driver who willfully fails or refuses to stop their vehicle or otherwise attempts to flee a pursuing officer is committing a third-degree felony punishable by a maximum sentence of seven years in prison, a $15,000 fine, and restitution for damages or injuries sustained as a result.
