In observance of Juneteenth, all Pennsylvania Department of Transportation locations, including the full-service center in Harrisburg, will be closed on Wednesday, June 19th, 2024.

What is Juneteenth?

June 19th is recognized as Juneteenth National Freedom Day and serves as an official annual holiday celebrated in Pennsylvania. This day commemorates June 19th, 1865, when Union soldiers reached the southernmost point, delivering the news of the end of the Civil War. Juneteenth is a day dedicated to honoring the liberation of black individuals and the progress made towards freedom.
