Pennsylvania State Police investigate fatal motor vehicle crash involving a motorcycle and tractor-trailer on I-78 Wednesday

The Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) Troop M Fogelsville Station is investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred on Wednesday, June 26, 2024.


At approximately 11:43 am, Troopers from PSP Fogelsville were dispatched to I-78 Eastbound, mile marker 58.4, Allentown, Lehigh County for a motor vehicle crash involving a motorcycle and tractor-trailer.


Upon investigation, it was determined, that a 2012 Yamaha motorcycle, operated by a 30-year-old male from Coopersburg, Lehigh County, a Freightliner tractor-trailer, operated by a 42-year old male, and a 2015 Honda Pilot, operated by a 58-year-old male from Harleysville, Montgomery County were involved in the crash on the interstate, according to the Pennsylvania State Police.

The operator of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased on-scene at 1:25 pm by the Lehigh County Coroner, according to the news release.


The operator of the tractor-trailer and Honda Pilot were not injured.


I-78 Eastbound was reopened at the crash scene at approximately 3:40 pm.


Assisting in this investigation: Troop M Collision Analysis Reconstruction Unit, Troop M Forensic Services Unit, Lehigh County Coroners Office, and the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office.


This crash remains under investigation.
