ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The sale of a well-known landmark in Downtown Allentown has been finalized.
PPL Electric Utilities announced Friday that it has finalized the sale of its 24-story 2 North Ninth Street Tower Building and office complex to Pennsylvania-based developer D&D Realty Group for $9 million.
According to a news release from PPL, the developer plans to transform the approximately 450,000 square feet of property into new mixed-use commercial spaces, apartments, and other amenities.

PPL Corporation, the parent company of PPL Electric Utilities, now has its headquarters at Two City Center in downtown Allentown.
Established in 2010 and based in Scranton, D&D Realty Group is recognized statewide for its redevelopment projects, which involve converting properties into mixed-use commercial and residential units with amenities such as restaurants, storage, and grocery stores, as stated in PPL's news release.
D&D Realty Group includes investors Nicholas Dye, Casey Donahue, and John P. Carson III for this transaction.
PPL Corporation reached a preliminary agreement with D&D Realty Group in March 2024 to sell its iconic former headquarters.
The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission approved the sale of the PPL Tower in July 2024, according to the office of Pa. Sen. Nick Miller.
